Ching-Chang Hsieh was born at Taipei, Taiwan in 1955. He graduated from Taipei Medical University in 1981 and enrolled into the program of residency training in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in 1983 after completing his compulsive military service in Hsin-Chu Air Force Hospital. Ching-Chang Hsieh has accomplished his past 38 years of life in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Chang Gung Medical College of Chang Gung University. From 1994 to 1998, he was appointed to be the section Chief of Obstetrics and was promoted to be the chairman of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2000 at Taipei Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Nowadays, Dr. Hsieh plays a major role in the field of medical education and as a crucial member of physician educator in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology after completed his chairmanship in 2007.
Ching-Chang Hsieh has received clinical and research fellow training at USC/LAC Medical Center, Los Angeles in California from 1989 to 1990 and as a clinical fellow in fetal echocardiography at LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City in Utah, under supervision of Dr. Lawrence Platt and Dr. Greggory DeVore. He became an outstanding exchange scholar to Cidars-Sinai medical Center, Los Angeles and Pasadena Genetic Institute, Pasadena in 2000. The research interests of Ching-Chang Hsieh are fetal echocardiography, fetal ultrasound, perinatal Doppler study, high risk pregnancy, prenatal diagnosis and multimedia applications in ultrasound.
As a fighter for good quality of ultrasound in Taiwan from 1990 till now, Dr. Hsieh engaged in many times of tutorial lectures in fetal echocardiography and prenatal ultrasonographic diagnosis of fetal abnormality island-wide in Taiwan and overseas. He also an active participant in AFSUMB (Asian Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) and WFUMB (World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) in the past 25 years. Ching-Chang Hsieh, a founder member and very energetic in Taiwan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine, became the eleventh president (2006-2008) after experiencing many years of secretary general and chairperson of committee. He currently served as Advisory Editorial Board of “The journal of Medical Ultrasound (JMU)”, which is the official journal of AFSUMB and Taiwan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine.
Ching-Chang Hsieh is now as professor of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and committed to train medical students, residents, fellows, and young attending physicians in his daily practice. He is also the council member of AFSUMB from 2012 to 2014 and as the secretary general of 2017 WFUMB Taipei held in Taipei International Convention Center. Professor Hsieh is now serving as the treasure of AFSUMB from 2020-2022.
